What are the requirements for Indian nurses to work in the UK?
The Eligibility to be a fully qualified nurse

You must be a qualified nurse with any degree out of GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / M. Sc Nursing and having at least one year of work experience as a nurse in any of the hospitals with proficiency over English Language.

Certify your English Language Skills

To fulfill your eligibility the first and foremost requirement is to prove the language skills that you can speak, read and write the English language. This is a vital part of overseas jobs because it is necessary for each nurse or healthcare professional’s requirement while communicating with patients and co-workers.

 

To meet the requirement, you can take any of the two examinations:​

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)​

  • OET (Occupational English Test)

The Eligibility to be a fully qualified nurse

Once you’ve cleared your IELTS or OET with the required overall scores, IOTS will set up an interview via Virtual platform with UK/ Europe Team. This is the time to prove why you’d be the perfect fit for a nursing role and feel free to ask any questions about the process.

For Singapore IELTS / OET Score is not required, if you have scored 50% or more in the English language during your class 12th Board exam then you are eligible for an overseas job.

Clear Your Computer Based Test (CBT)

All nurses willing to work in the UK / Europe must complete the Computer-Based Test (CBT) before leaving the country, it’s a computer-based test with multiple-choice questions.

Submit your Documents

Once you take the Interview and have successfully cleared both the English and CBT test then submit various documents to IOTS for verification and processing.

Next Steps

The hospital management / Trust acts as your sponsor and will issue CoS with detail of job role, date of joining, validity period, annual package, work hours, etc. The COS will last 3 years, after which the contract will be renewed based on your performance. After 5 years of job in UK, you can apply for permanent residency (PR). Then apply for Visa and book your flight ticket for the destination country.

Once you reach the destination, relocation allowance or all the expenses will be reimbursed.
